| Media Café undertakes a number of projects
both independently and in conjunction with various partners.
These include:
LearnDirect:
In conjuction with the TUC, Media Café is operating
as a LearnDirect centre. Aimed primarily at union
and potential union members, this is opportunity to choose from
hundreds of online courses many of which are free. After
signing up at Media Café you can either use the
special LearnDirect centre with state of the art
facilities or you can work through the courses at home or work.
All courses are online and can be worked through at whatever pace
is comfortable to you. Tutor support is available at the centre
or online.
Courses range from:
- Skills for Life - to brush up on your language
and numeracy skills
- Professional office packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel,
Access and Powerpoint
- Sector specific courses for job related development in areas
from the automotive trade through to management skills, also covering
most job sectors inbetween
- Multimedia, web and programming skills

Capacitator:
Capacitator providedfree media advice, resources
and creative skills for local organisations and the people connected
with them. Some of the FREE services that Capacitator offered included:
- Access to free design, development and hosting of a website
for your group or organisation
- Advice and support in preparing promotional materials, newsletters
or devising a promotion campaign or public event
- Access to free training in a range of creative skills including
design and new media skills
- Information on media resources available to your group
- Walk-in access to internet and a range of computer packages

InSynch:
The InSynch Project was a large-scale specialist initiative providing
a variety of free courses. It existed to help people in the west
London area to gain skills and access learning for work in the creative,
cultural and humanities industries.
The project came about through a partnership of specialist providers
working together with the support of the West London Learning Skills
Council to provide a high-quality initiative aimed at benefiting
local people. Although it is now finished in its current form, see
